In December 2019, Yugra State University became the second university in Russia to receive NXplorers training. 25 students and 6 members of the faculty of Yugra State University in Russia enthusiastically participated in the two-day workshop held at the university campus. Students used "NXthinking" to explore complex challenges and take advantage of a great opportunity to develop and enhance their systems and scenarios thinking skills.
The two-day training was delivered as a collaborative effort by Shell and Salym Petroleum Development to participants from the Yugra State University in Khanty-Mansiysk, Western Siberia, Russia.
Five teams, each with 5 students and 1-2 university staff, took on issues such as clean water shortages, deforestation, waste processing and new energy. One of the teams focused their project around a problem that's very important in the region, namely the outflow of local youth from Yugra. The students went from being very curious to becoming very passionate about the process in which they created their preferred future scenarios and developed plans for their implementation.
“SPD has a long-standing relationship with Yugra University and NXplorers provided an opportunity to strengthen our cooperation. We are looking forward to further workshops in the future.”
Alla Mishna, Senior SD and Corporate Affairs Advisor, Salym Petroleum
"The training was interesting and rewarding," says Evgenia Logunova, one of the students who took part. "It has made us think seriously about why we think that our actions and proposals can lead to the changes we would like to achieve."
